THE STORY (LINDSEY’S JOURNEY)

I spent my career in regulatory affairs — the complex, high-stakes work of helping medical device companies navigate FDA requirements. I was good at it. I was respected. I had a salary and benefits and a title. I also had a schedule that belonged to someone else, a ceiling I could see, and a dream I had been putting off for fifteen years.

THE DECISION

A week before my daughter was born, I quit. I started Folio Consulting Group with one part-time client and a lot of uncertainty. I had no playbook. I made mistakes. I also figured it out — because the alternative was going back to a life where someone else decided when I worked, where I sat, and what I was worth.

THE RESULT

Today, Folio Consulting Group serves some of the most innovative medical device companies in the country. My team works remotely. My schedule is built around my family. My husband was able to leave a job that didn’t fulfill him to work alongside me. I work from Bend, Oregon, right on the trails in a community I love, a few miles from the mountains.

Courage got me here and the knowing that I could apply my expertise in my own company.

I built The Consulting Route because the path I took was longer and harder than it needed to be. Not because starting a consulting business is difficult — it isn’t, when you have a clear framework. But because I had to piece together everything I learned about niching, pricing, contracts, clients, and systems through years of trial and error.
